Anchor Section 5 - 8 years

The Anchor section is for those aged between 5 and 8 years of age.

We meet on a Tuesday between 6 and 7pm at Madeley Baptist Church. Activities include fun, games, puzzles, craft, marching, singing and Bible stories all at an appropriate level for younger members

      Anchor section is about ---
  • having fun
  • making friends
  • enjoying lots of activities
  • trying new things

We have lots of fun doing different activities which include making things - arts and crafts, music, games, sports, stories, going out on visits and more and all this is done whilst making new friends

All of this is done as part of a balanced programme that is separated into five different zones ---
  • Body - fit for fun
  • Mind - think and do
  • Spirit - God and me
  • Community - me and my world
  • Creativity - make and do

Everything a member of the Anchor section does helps them to develop and to think for themselves, in a safe environment.

Our Leaders are CRB checked and will make every effort to ensure your childs' safety. See our Information for Parents/Guardians section for more details.

Anchor Section

The Anchors Activity Programme provides an informal award scheme. This means that members will gain their awards as they take part in the usual programme activities.

Green Activity Badge      The first award is the Green Activity Badge
This requires 12 activities and is usually awarded at age 5/6
Red Activity Badge The second award is the Red Activity Badge
This requires 18 activities and is usually awarded at age 6/7
Blue Activity Badge The third award is the Blue Activity Badge
This requires 18 activities and is usually awarded at age 7/8

In order to get all 3 awards a member needs to complete a total of 48 activities over 3 years.

It does not matter what age your child joins at since they will join in with others in their same age group and participate at their own level. There is no judgment about how well they have done, all that is required is to join in and try their best

Anchor Service Badge      In addition members will earn a service badge which shows how many years they have served.

An Anchor member can earn up to a maximum of 3 years service

For information on how the badges are worn as part of the uniform see the section on Badges

      Uniform

Anchor section uniform       We are a uniformed organisation and do expect our members to wear their full clean uniform every week. Members of the Anchor section wear a red pullover which is supplied via the company and costs £12.50. In addition members are required to wear dark trousers (school trousers are ideal), dark coloured socks and black shoes or trainers (no white socks or white trainers please).

Their Badges are worn on an armband which goes on the right arm.
See how the Anchor Section badges are laid out on the armband

      Weekly Subs

We charge a weekly subs fee for every member which covers the cost of heating, lighting and resources, I assure you none of it goes to the leaders. When a new member first joins that first week is FREE
