Junior Section 8 - 11 years

The Junior section is for those aged between 8 and 11 years of age.

We meet on a Tuesday between 6-30 and 8pm at Madeley Rest rooms, Church Street. Activities include fun, games, puzzles, craft, marching, singing and Bible stories all at an appropriate but more advanced level for these members

      Junior section is about ---
  • having fun
  • making friends
  • enjoying lots of activities
  • trying new things

We have lots of fun doing different activities which include making things - arts and crafts, music, games, sports, stories, going out on visits and more and all this is done whilst making new friends

All of this is done as part of a balanced programme that is separated into five different zones ---
  • Body - fit for fun
  • Mind - think and do
  • Spirit - God and me
  • Community - me and my world
  • Creativity - make and do

Everything a member of the Junior section does helps them to develop and to think for themselves, in a safe environment. This is a development of what we do with the younger members in the Anchor section, but is presented in such a way that new members can join in regardless of previous experience.

Our Leaders are CRB checked and will make every effort to ensure your childs' safety. See our Information for Parents/Guardians section for more details.

The Juniors Activity Programme provides an informal award scheme. This means that members will gain their awards as they take part in the usual programme activities.

Junior Target Award      The Junior Target Award requires 5 activities, one from each of the five zones and is usually awarded shortly after joining the Junior Section
Junior Bronze Award The Junior Bronze Award requires 10 activities with at least one from each of the five zones and is usually awarded at age 8/9.
Junior Silver Award The Junior Silver Award requires 20 activities with at least three from each of the five zones and is usually awarded at age 9/10.
Junior Gold Award The Junior Gold Award requires 20 activities with at least three from each of the five zones and is usually awarded at age 10/11.

In order to get all 4 awards a boy needs to complete a total of 55 activities over three years.

It does not matter what age your child joins at since they will join in with others in their same age group and participate at their own level. There is no judgment about how well they have done, all that is required is to join in and try their best

Junior Service Badge      In addition members will earn a service badge which shows how many years they have served.

An Junior member can earn up to a maximum of 3 years service which is added to any service in the Anchor section

For information on how the badges are worn as part of the uniform see the section on Badges
