Within this section I hope to provide details of the known covers that show imperforate and perforated stamps used together. As far as I know, there is no listing of these items and this section I hope start to provide this information.

It has been suggested by at least one specialist collector that the length of the imperf / perf transitional period might have been from February 1854 to August 1854 and a shorter period for the 1d red combinations. Anything significantly outside this time band would, it has been stated, be little more than a curiousity items, being late use of the imperforate stamps rather than general use of the two issues together as they were available.

Perforated 1d reds - JD & JC plate 169

Brought crica 1985 at Acton stamp fair, London - £10

Cover used locally in London with the 4d rate - the letter notes three documents enclosed - hence the higher rate
Dated 4 April 1854
Bottom right corner stamp has the SE corner missing and this has been repaired - (This should be stamp JC not JE)
The missing piece would have been on the left of the stamp JD where the cancellation stops short of the cover
